Great B&P Toastmasters meeting this week! If you weren’t there, you missed another wonderful gathering. Terry Coutinho was Toastmaster of the Day using, of course, Halloween as the day’s theme. Interesting little bits of Halloween trivia... interspersed throughout the meeting. Word of the Day was ‘hidebound’, an adjective meaning someone is unwilling or unable to change because of tradition or convention. A warm B&P welcome to our guests – Bryan Hummel and Jaime Lopez. We look forward to your return next week! The General Evaluator, Elia Ray, performed her duties splendidly. Elia and the Evaluation Team did well keeping that important portion of the meeting moving along crisply. Great job to Terry and Elia! Jeff Brown headed the Table Topics segment of the meeting asking questions about Halloween-themed memories and situations. That Texas Old-Timer, Mel Mountjoy took the Best Table Topics ribbon for a delightful – and allegedly true – tale of a ‘trick’ he performed in his younger days involving a street car, a hill, and grease on the tracks! Best Evaluator ribbon was awarded to Elaine Miller for an excellent review of Anne-Marie Weldon’s speech. And the crème d’ la crème of this week’s B&P speakers… the ribbon we attempt to bribe the Ballot Counter for… the weekly TM honor above all others, that illustrious blue Best Speaker ribbon, was awarded to David Bamberger for an excellent historical speech on the ‘interview’ between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Very fine and polished delivery. David Bamberger passed along the Spirit Stick to John Pickles, for John’s positive outlook every time he is at a meeting and particularly when John has a meeting role (Timer, this week). Congratulations to our 3 ribbon and Spirit Stick winners! Although we followed B&P tradition, this meeting was not ‘hidebound’ at all! Quite the contrary, we focused on learning from each other, having a wonderful time, and being yet again with our B&P friends! Looking forward to seeing YOU next Friday... same B&P time, same B&P channel!
