One of the most fun-filled, jovial and free-wheeling B&P meetings we’ve had in a while. Although the theme for the meeting was ‘The Mysteries of Life’, it was clear this group really enjoys being together. No mystery there. Word of the Day was ‘discombobulate’ and only our Toastmaster of the Day, Dave Cornell, could determine that this is actually slang for ‘Disco-Bob-u-late’! And that’s how t...he meeting started! No guest today but that just allowed us to REALLY let our hair down! Oh boy! Lori Brown was on top of the General Evaluator role and gave an outstanding introduction to the evaluation sequence. Liz Johnson debuted as Table Topics Master, doing a superb job of querying participants about various mysteries in their lives. It was David Bamberger who took top Table Topic honors with an excellent, down-to-earth and common everyday mysteries such as, why does the checkout line you pick suddenly become the slowest. Or why when you approach a seemingly empty street, it fills with cars. His 2-minute answer resonated with the audience. Best Evaluator was awarded to Bob Carlson for a solid recap of Mark Jannasch’s speech. But the top banana, the highest pinnacle achievable at a B&P meeting went to Hal Heinz for a speech on safety. What was truly inspiring for all was that Hal was asked to speak, literally as he walked in the door. Talk about on-the-fly speaking! Liz Johnson presented the Spirit Stick to Lori Brown in recognition of Lori’s friendly, welcoming personality. Congratulations to our 3 ribbon and Spirit Stick winners! Is it a mystery that B&P has such wonderful meetings? Nah… Its camaraderie, a friendly environment, and a group that enjoys the value of a good joke and play on words. Looking forward to seeing YOU next Friday... same B&P time, same B&P channel!
