We packed the Back Room at Joe’s Crab Shack for today’s B&P meeting – 39 folks in attendance! Awesome! And what a great time we had today. Rebecca Kary was Toastmaster of the Day and did a superb job leading the meeting through its stage...s using the theme of Sadie Hawkins. Word of the Day was ‘Race’, and with 39 during introductions, we managed to ‘race’ through just fine. And a big B&P welcome to our visitors - Wayne Allison, Deborah Borden, Bernard & Ashley Hill and Frank Palmer. We hope to see you again next week! Terry Coutinho managed the General Evaluator duties splendidly, keeping the Evaluation portion moving along very well. Bill Tibbs ran Table Topics and continued the theme of Sadie Hawkins. While Elia Ray brought the house down with an opening line about a corsage, it was Kirk Binder who captured the Best Table Topics ribbon for a delightful answer for the ladies to choose a man who had safety on his mind, like Hal Heinz. Bets Evaluator award was given to Mark Jannasch for wonderfully animated evaluation of Hal Heinz’ speech using the metaphor ‘bullets and blanks’ when describing the speech’s strengths and weaknesses. Last but certainly not least, the highly desirable, can’t-find-‘em-on-eBay Best Speaker ribbon was awarded to… Elaine Miller, for a fabulous and energy-filled historical look at the Spirit Stick and B&P history. Truly a great speech! Anne-Marie Weldon presented the Spirit Stick to Elaine Miller for her welcoming nature and ability to demonstrate that B&P spirit through oratory and historical reflection today. Congratulations to our 3 ribbon and Spirit Stick winners! With two of the speeches being extended in time duration, we had to ‘race’ to finish the meeting on time! Wonderful attendance, fabulous oratory, great camaraderie. Another top-shelf B&P meeting! Proud recipient of the President’s Distinguished Award, every year, since 2004 – and today we demonstrated why we ARE the best in San Antonio! Looking forward to seeing YOU next Friday... same B&P time, same B&P channel!
