All Saints Day – the day after Halloween. You expects ‘spooky’ occurrences to continue, but today’s B&P meeting was anything but spooky! Jeff Brown was Toastmaster of the Day and kept the meeting lively, upbeat, and boisterous. The theme... was Pumpkins, and Jeff provided a snippet or two of pumpkin trivia. Word of the Day was ‘Spooky’, setting an ominous tone at the start, after which the B&P members said ‘To heck with that malarkey!’ A warm welcome to our guests - Molly Tijerina, Rachael Jones, and Marquita Woolley. Welcome ladies! Kathy Swanson, as General Evaluator, took charge of the Evaluation Team and did a superb job leading the evaluation portion.
Elaine Miller was the Table Topics Master and she took a different approach – Elaine made simple orange cardboard cutouts of expressive ‘pumpkin’ faces and asked participants to describe how each face worked in their lives. Wonderful visual and speaking opportunities – great job, Elaine!
And the Best Table Topics winner was Pat Althof, with a wonderfully descriptive on the ‘sad’ pumpkin face. Close contest, but Kirk Binder took Best Evaluator honors for his assessment of Bill Tibbs’ wonderful speech. But that top honor, the blue ribbon that simply cannot be bribed for any price, was awarded to… Rebecca Kary, for a delightful twist of the Cinderella story. This was Rebecca’s first Best Speaker win and she was elated! John Pickles presented the Spirit Stick to Jeff Brown for his dedication and work in support of B&P, as well as his fine representation in the recent Humorous Speech Contest. Congratulations to our 3 ribbon and
Spirit Stick winners!
As you can see, our meeting today was anything but ‘spooky’! Lots of fun, great banter ‘awesome, cool’ job, Mike!) and fabulous camaraderie. B&P Toastmasters – proud recipient of the President’s Distinguished Award, every year, since 2004. Looking forward to seeing YOU next Friday... same B&P time, same B&P channel!
